Historical Limerick City


Limerick (Luimneach in Irish) is the nearest city to Curraghchase. It is also located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and the Abbey River. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

There are many wonderful attractions to visit within the City. The World Famous 13th Century Riverside Fortress King John's Castle is must see for all to visitors to Limerick. Also the stunning architecture of the city's Catherals, St. Marys and St. Johns. There are also several museums to visit, Limerick City Museum and the Hunt museum to name a few. And if your into sports, Thomond Park and Muesum, Home of the famous Munster Rugby team is also well worth a visit. Limerick has many other attractions that offer something to suit all tastes.
